Back to work, back to work...

Well, this past week I went back to my job after 10 weeks and Grant went to day care. The first few days were rough, but this is our life now. It's hard to imagine someone else spending most of the day with Grant so we are trying to make the most of the evenings we have together. I find myself not coming home and turning on the TV (life before baby) and getting on the floor in Grant's room playing with him. He is really becoming more aware of his surroundings which is fun to watch. He is sleeping till about 5:30 in the morning which helps me get some good sleep. I have time to take another small nap after I feed him before I have to get ready for work. I am going in to work at 9 for a while until I get a routine that gets me to work by 8. My boss is ok with that so I will continue to do that probably through March.
Other things that are going on...We went to Kansas City for a friend's wedding. It was a lot of fun because we got to see some old friends. We shopped and had a great time visiting with everyone. Grant also had his first dance at the wedding. He loved it or I guess he did because it did not make him fussy. He also joined the conga line when it went by. All the "firsts" are so much fun with him. My friends that have kids have told me that, but until you get to experience it with your own, it's hard to understand the joy.

So much for a blog once a week

Well my goal was to get on here once a week and update everyone on Grant's progress. As you can see that has not happened. It is amazing how I am home everyday right now, but how little time I have for things like this. Most of the day I am feeding, rocking, cleaning, and sleeping. But it has been GREAT! Yesterday Grant was six weeks old. I have always heard that this time goes by fast and that they grow so much, but I never understood until now. He slept in his crib for the first time last night. He did pretty good. We woke up at 2 and at 6. The other night he slept for 6 hours so I am trying to figure out what I did that night to help him sleep that long. Hopefully soon he will be sleeping 6 or more hours a night- I know, just a little patience.

Grant and I had a big weekend travelling to Houston to visit my family. The only person in my family to have seen Grant before that was my mom so it was nice to introduce him to everyone. One of my brothers did not get to meet him because he is working over in Africa right now. However, I was given a web-cam for Christmas which is a blessing. We have been able to talk to my brother and the grandparents through Skype. It is amazing how technology allows people all over the world to feel close to each other when talking.

I have a few more weeks before I go back to work. I pray that Grant is sleeping through the night at that point to help me adjust to being a working mom. But if not, I am sure that I will survive the sleep deprivation as so many other moms do the same thing.
