Welcome home Grant!

Well, it is almost a week since the arrival of Grant. For those of you who have not heard, I was in the checkout line at Wal-Mart after an all day conference last Wednesday when my water BROKE! Yes, what a great story that will be. I finished checking out my few items despite the cashier taking his sweet time. I guess I managed to hide the fact that I was about to bring a baby into the world. I got home and got everything ready to go to the hospital. Chad came home from work and proceeded to clean up the Christmas decorations in the yard that had fallen over. Chad-always calm, cool, and collected enough to take care of the decorations. We also stopped by Sonic on the way to the hospital to eat a bite before the big event. I was admitted to a room and about midnight the nurse started me on pitocin to speed along the process. An hour later I was blessed with an epidural! Things went well from there until it was time to push. I guess Grant was embarrassed about the Wal-mart incident because he did not want to come out. After almost 2 hours, the doctor provided a little assistance and out came Mr. Grant- lovely conehead and all!!! He is precious (maybe a little biased). Chad was great through it all and my cousin Carin came up about 6 just in time for the pushing. They were both wonderful to have there for the support and laughter. At one point (early in the pushing) Chad played "Eye of the Tiger" from his phone. Later in the pushing, it would not have been so funny.

Overwhelmed...

Well, there is only one word to describe this past week and that is OVERWHELMING! Quit job, painting, cleaning, baby shower, new job...wow- Grant is learning already what it is like to have a lot of things happening at once. On Tuesday I quit working at the ME's office. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday we sanded a dresser, painted the room (thanks to my mom), cleaned the house (thanks again to Mom). Saturday night we had some friends in town so we all went down to Bricktown and bowled. I decided not to bowl because my belly was wanting to just sit and watch everyone else and not bend over so much. Then Sunday afternoon, I had a shower at church, which was just amazing. When I walked into the room, it was decorated so cute with sea life everywhere. There was so many gifts to open and we were so blessed to have people throw us this shower. Then Monday morning, I started my new job at the OSBI. It has been a bittersweet past two days knowing that I have a great opportunity at OSBI, but sad to not be working with some of my closest friends. I also had a doctor's appointment today that went well and she says that I am on schedule for 34 weeks. Only 5 1/2 more weeks to go! Then maybe I can be comfortable sleeping and breathing again...We are excited about the greatest change in our lives.

The name...

Well, we decided on a name for the baby. We have been calling him George and we still do sometimes, but he now has an "official" name. Grant Michael Cliburn! Chad and I had both picked out names and Chad decided on the name I chose. This way, if he grows up not liking the name Grant, Chad can blame it on me. What a thoughtful father he will be!

Sonogram of our baby boy

Let the blogging begin...

Well, here it is. I decided to get into the blogging thing so that friends and relatives, especially new grandparents could keep up with the changes of a newborn. It is such a wonderful time for us and we are looking forward to this journey we are about to embark on. Only 3 more months to go, which seems like a lot. But, there is so much to do in the next months that I can't even imagine how fast it will go by.
